How do Singles Events work?
Whether you are a supporter of the arts, a film buff, sports fan, music lover, theatergoer, or have your own unique interests, you’ll find a Singles Event where you can meet new people while taking part in the things you like to do. Singles Events are attended by a wide variety of people with varied interests, and we try to offer something for everyone. You can attend a concert, theater, show, or sports event with groups of singles put together by us. At times, your Matchmaker will even invite you to a Happy Hour at a nearby bar or lounge, where he or she feels members you have added to your Hot List or members that share your interests might attend. At these events, a Host is often present to introduce you and break the ice for you.
Why are Singles Events a great way to meet new people?
These Events allow members with similar interests to meet in a safe, low-pressure environment, while doing the things they like to do. Attending these Events is not just about dating; it's also about making new friends while having a nice time out, and enjoying yourself, with other single people in your own age range. Events provide an environment where instead of reaching for something to say like in many new social situations, members can easily start talking to anybody by just asking, 'What did you think?' Also, you'll be at your most comfortable, because these Events give you the opportunity to be in an environment that you know a lot about with people who share your interests.
I'm sometimes shy about meeting new people. Will I be comfortable?
If you are feeling shy, just ended a previous relationship or marriage and are feeling a bit nervous, or haven't dated for awhile, these Events are perfect for you. Each Event is run by a professional Event Host who specializes in making sure that everyone gets to know each other and makes sure everyone feels included. Plus, there is no pressure to 'pick up' anyone; everyone is just there to enjoy one of their favorite activities and to let things happen naturally.
Can I attend an Event by myself?
Of course! Many members come to the Events by themselves. In many ways, it is even a good idea to come solo to force yourself to meet new people. Since our members are so friendly, there will generally be someone who will reach out to welcome you into the fold. And remember, there will often be a Host on hand to introduce new participants around.
How do I choose which Event to attend?
It depends on what you're interested in. Whether you are into art, fashion, movies, music, sports or theater there is likely an Event for you. Your Matchmaker will recommend Events based his or her in-depth knowledge of what you are interested in. Remember, being passionate about your interests is very attractive, so here's a great chance to meet the kind of people you want to meet just by letting your enthusiasm show.
Can I buy tickets in advance?
Our members are entitled to purchase tickets to all the Events, whether they are open to the general public or invite-only. Ticket buyers' names are kept on a list at the door. You must bring a valid ID and/or the credit card used to purchase the tickets to be admitted.
What kind of artists, designers, filmmakers and musicians feature their work at the showcase events?
Some of these Events were created to showcase the works of the brightest new emerging fashion designers, filmmakers, musicians, DJs, and visual artists. The quality criteria of these artists is very high to ensure that only the best art, film, fashion, and music will be featured. So you'll be enjoying the rising stars of today and superstars of tomorrow. And besides the actual works featured, these events draw a high profile audience of tastemakers, film industry personnel, press and celebrities.
What does it cost to attend an Event?
The cost varies according to the event, and there is generally a $10 to $50 charge depending on the Event. Your Matchmaker will let you know the cost of the Events when he or she recommends them to you or when you express interest in attending. As well as organizing our own Events, we sometimes recommend Events run by other organizations if we think they are well suited to a member's interests and needs. Our members generally receive a discount off the normal admission to these other Events.
Are children allowed to attend Events?
No. Some of our members do have children, but our Events are designed for 21+ adults to meet each other in a fun, easy environment. If you do have children, this might be your chance to get a babysitter and remember what it is like to do something entirely for yourself.
